Tai Mo Shan大帽山

Tai Mo Shan is the highest peak in Hong Kong, with an elevation of 957 m. It locates in Tsuen Wan, New Territories. The Tai Mo Shan Country Park covers an area of 14.40 km² around Tai Mo Shan. It is located to the north of Tai Lam Country Park. It is noted to have the 35-metre Long Falls.

In daytime, people usually would use to go hiking. There are several hiking routes for visitors. You can select the hiking sites according your ability, time, lengths and difficulty level. You should also find your friends to go there if you are not familiar with Tai Mo Shan. In the country park, people would go BBQ with friends and family there as there are BBQ sites. I have been there for many times during my primary school and secondary school period.

At night, people would go for sunrise as this is the highest place. In Spring, people would go more for taking photos of 'Sea of Cloud', which would be shown below. It is so awesome!

How to get there?

Starting Point:

Take Bus No. 1 (Tsuen Wan West Railway Station - Sheung Tsuen ) and get off when arrives 'Country Park' bus stop. It takes about 30 minutes. Details can be checked here.

End Point:

Take Minibus No. 82 (Shing Mun Reservoir - Tsuen Wan (Shiu Wo Street)) and get on at 'Shing Mun Road' minibus stop. It takes about 20 minutes to Tsuen Wan. Details can be checked here.

HINTS!!

The last section of uphill path is rough and steep. The descent from the signal station to Tai Mo Shan Road requires some clambering. For more, you can surf this website.

Here are photos I took last time for sunrise~!

It was a bit different to go up the hills for sunrise. People usually do not go about 11 pm because it is so cold uphill. Therefore, my friends and I went there by taxi at around 3 am. Doesn't it sound crazy? But still, it worth !

The taxi would stop in front of the restricted area, which particularly allows some cars to enter. Afterwards, we walked directly uphills for 45 minutes! It was so dark and cold! Luckily, I had friends, otherwise, I could not stay for so much time!

LOOK! The sun comes out!

Actually the weather that day was not good. But we could still see the 'Sea of Clouds'. The clouds surrounded the mountain and high buildings. It looks like snow and just under my feet.:)

When day comes, the cows appeared! They are going to find food. One followed one, systematically. However, there were lots of faeces along the road. Haha~
